Overview
In a market full of project management consultants, MCP is the one run by a heavy-equipment mechanical trade professional. Before he was ever a project manager, our principal spent 30+ years hands-on with fixed and mobile plant, so when we take on your maintenance scope, you’re dealing with the person who actually knows the plant.
That trade background changes how the work is scoped, priced and delivered. Maintenance plans written by someone who has never turned a spanner tend to assume access that doesn’t exist, intervals that don’t suit the duty cycle, and durations that don’t survive contact with the equipment. Ours are built from how the work actually gets done.
We deliver fixed and mobile plant maintenance across Queensland mine sites: shutdown support, maintenance planning and scheduling, parts and logistics flow, and the workshop infrastructure that brings maintenance capability on site in the first place. At Olive Downs, we designed and constructed an LV/MV workshop to mine specification, improving turnaround times and reducing reliance on external contractors.
Every maintenance engagement runs under documented safe systems of work, aligned to your site’s safety and health management system and Queensland mining legislation. On a mine site that isn’t a differentiator, it’s the entry requirement, and we treat it that way.
What's included
Scope we cover
- Fixed plant maintenance
- Mobile plant maintenance
- Shutdown maintenance support
- Maintenance planning and scheduling
- Workshop facilities and infrastructure
- Maintenance logistics and parts flow
- Condition assessment and failure review
- Trade labour for maintenance scopes
How we deliver
From scope to handover
- 01
Assess the plant
We start on the equipment, not in a spreadsheet. Condition, failure history and how the plant is actually being run all shape what the maintenance scope needs to be.
- 02
Plan and resource
Scope, schedule, parts, access and crew are planned together, with the safety documentation prepared before anyone mobilises rather than after.
- 03
Execute on site
Work is delivered under documented safe systems of work, aligned to your site's safety and health management system, with progress reported as it happens.
- 04
Hand over and review
You get maintenance records, findings and practical recommendations, so the next interval is better planned than the last.
Where we work
Across the coalfields
Our maintenance work is centred on the Bowen Basin coalfields, working out of Mackay. That covers the operations around Moranbah, Coppabella, Nebo and Dysart in the northern and central basin, through to Blackwater and Emerald in the south, and extends west into the Galilee Basin. Being based in the region means mobilisation is measured in hours, not days.

Common questions
Before you enquire
Do you maintain both fixed and mobile plant?
Yes. Fixed plant and mobile plant maintenance are both core scopes, and our principal's background is heavy-equipment mechanical trade, so both are handled by someone who has worked on the equipment directly.
What makes MCP different from other maintenance contractors?
Most project consultancies are led by project managers. MCP is led by a heavy-equipment mechanical trade professional with more than 30 years hands-on before he ever managed a project, backed by postgraduate qualifications in engineering and project management. Scopes get priced and planned by someone who has done the work.
Can you support a planned shutdown?
Yes. Shutdown maintenance support is a core scope, covering planning, trade labour and delivery. Talk to us early, because the planning window is where most shutdown risk is either removed or locked in.
Can you build maintenance capability on site rather than just supply it?
Yes, and we have. At Olive Downs we designed and constructed an LV/MV workshop to mine specification, which brought maintenance capability on site and reduced that operation's reliance on external contractors.
